چکیده:
Nowadays, studying as one of the important sources for obtaining information is not just a practical individual matter that can continue due to personal interest and taste; rather, social necessities, the historical and cultural situation of society, the needs of the social system, individual interests and motivations, the facilities and energies of the system, and the availability of books are determining factors in reading. Attention to studying becomes more important when it is related to a specific age group and is connected to the needs and inclinations of that group. The present research investigates the types of literary inclinations of adolescents in the city of Isfahan in the year 1397 (2018/2019). The importance of the subject is evident from the fact that the adolescent age group is in the stage of mental and physical maturity, and addressing their needs and inclinations is very important in shaping their personality and identity. This research was conducted using a sequential qualitative-quantitative mixed method. The findings of the qualitative section show that causal conditions such as the adolescent environment, family cultural consumption, and socialization have turned reading into a temporary and problematic matter. Within contexts such as socio-economic-cultural barriers, the issue of adolescence, and under the conditions of media intervention, the expansion of books alongside films, and the promotion of information literacy among adolescents, literary inclinations of adolescents are driven towards translations with exciting, humorous, and fantasy genres. This issue, considering the adolescent's chosen strategy for reading, leads to consequences such as a questioning-based lifestyle, fragmented identity, or youth passivity. To deepen the investigation of the data from the first stage, a quantitative method was used. Quantitative data collection was carried out through a survey using a questionnaire derived from the qualitative method, employing multi-stage cluster sampling based on the 6 educational districts of Isfahan, among 384 secondary school students/adolescents. In the quantitative section, hypotheses were tested using SPSS software. Then, structural hypotheses of the research were tested using structural modeling with AMOS software. The research findings show that the level of reading is most related to the independent variables of attitude toward books, adolescent characteristics, and then socialization by the family. Regarding the inclination towards thriller, humor, and fantasy genres, the main influencing variables are attitude toward reading, adolescent characteristics, and adolescent needs. The only independent variable affecting the inclination toward translation is adolescent characteristics. Other variables have an equal impact on both original works and translations.
