چکیده:
Various developments within the context of history led to the emergence of theological currents such as the Khawarij, Ash'arites, and Mu'tazilites with numerous coordinates and branches, which provided many interpretations of faith. Religious scholars who were agents of the intellectual trends of their era, such as Fakhr al-Din al-Razi—one of the prominent figures of the Ash'ari school—and Qadi al-Qudah Abd al-Jabbar al-Hamadhani—one of the representatives of Mu'tazilite thought—placed the concept of faith within the framework of one of the fundamental concepts in religious discourse and developed a detailed view regarding the nature of faith and its rulings and characteristics. In this research, the view of Qadi Abd al-Jabbar, who considers the essence of faith to consist of affirmation and the performance of obligatory and recommended acts, is compared with the view of Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, who considers the essence of faith to be heart-felt affirmation; the distinctions between the opinions of these two theological scholars regarding the essence, pillars, and attachments of faith are examined to reach the position of faith in their intellectual-theological system and to understand their differences.

This essay, to identify the boundaries of the concept of faith in the Ash'ari and Mu'tazili schools, has set out to examine the theological views of two prominent figures of these schools, Ibn al-Khatib Fakhr al-Din al-Razi and Qadi Abd al-Jabbar al-Hamadani.
Among the works that have independently compared the theological systems of Qadi Abd al-Jabbar and Fakhr al-Razi in the realm of faith is the thesis "Faith from the perspective of three Mu'tazili, Ash'ari, and Shiite personalities" (Alizadeh, 2009), and also the results of writings related to this subject include Khademi and Alizadeh (2010a: 1-20), (2010b: 69-91).
