This discourse, which is a translation of the treatise 'Al-Durar wa al-La'ali fi Tarjamat Sulaym ibn Qays al-Hilali', contains 31 points about Sulaym ibn Qays al-Hilali, the famous hadith narrator of the first century AH, and discusses his book which is available and extant today. The author of the article, with mastery over the knowledge of Rijal (biographical evaluation), biographies, and manuscript versions of reference books, presents novel points about this valuable book, including regarding the reliability of Sulaym and responding to the biographical weakening of him, the history of the book and its manuscript and printed versions, criticism and review of the opinions of biographical scholars in this regard, such as Mirza Astarabadi, the author of Rawdat al-Jannat, Wahid Behbani, Abul Hasan Sha'rani, and others, explanations regarding Aban ibn Abi Ayyash, the narrator of Sulaym's book, and other points. A short biography of the author is included at the beginning of the discourse.

Sheikh Abu Sa'd Salim bin Qays al-Hilali al-Amiri al-Kufi, a companion of Amir al-Mu'minin 7 and the author of a famous hadith book that is quoted in Bihar al-Anwar and other works.
Ibn Uqdah has mentioned him among the companions of Amir al-Mu'minin, and of course, this book is undoubtedly fabricated for several reasons; one being that it says Muhammad bin Abi Bakr advised his father at the time of death.
Furthermore, it should be noted that Allamah himself, at the end of the first part of his book Khulasa al-Aqwal, has mentioned Salim ibn Qays among the allies of Amir al-Mu'minin 7 and quotes this from the words of Burqi.
The author (the owner of Rawdat) says: The statement quoted from Mirza Astarabadi - the author of Manhaj al-Maqal - regarding Ibn Umar advising his father, must be said that this matter has been narrated several times with short intervals in the end of Salim's book, including this wording of Salim, which was quoted from it in Muntaha al-Maqal: "Salim says: I saw Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr.
