چکیده:
Among contemporary Shia scholars, there are three views regarding the approach of Allameh Mohammad Baqir Majlisi in the compilation of Bihar al-Anwar. Most of them believe that his goal was merely the collection of hadiths. Some have accepted his selective role in choosing the sources and hadiths of Bihar al-Anwar with the aim of making it efficient. Another group, in addition to confirming the selectivity of the narrations in Bihar al-Anwar, believes that he included narrations in Bihar al-Anwar that he himself considered authentic, except in a few cases where he himself pointed out the lack of authenticity of the hadith. This research, using a descriptive-analytical method, examines the aforementioned views and their origins to show that based on the expressions of Allameh Majlisi in the introduction of Bihar al-Anwar, his commentaries on the hadiths, and his principles for validating narrations, the third view appears to be more correct; although it should not be overlooked that the preservation of the written hadith heritage of the Shia in this extensive collection is considered the most important motivation and achievement of its compilation.

After mentioning examples from Bihar al-Anwar where Allamah Majlisi admitted his distrust of certain narrations, this researcher writes: "Of course, it can be imagined that a man like Allamah Majlisi, who was enamored with reports and hadiths, considered the bulk of these narrations to be authentic, and even his student Mulla Zulfiqar has commented on the book such that whenever the Qa'im of the Family of Muhammad (appear), with the gaze and reflection he will apply to this book, the fame and credibility of this book will increase" (ibid.
