چکیده:
Abu al-Walid Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rushd, known as Ibn Rushd, is one of the most famous commentators of Aristotle's works in medieval Andalusia. Unlike some Muslim thinkers who considered reasoning in religious texts to be incorrect, he, for various reasons, pays attention to verses and traditions that suggest not only that reasoning in religious texts is not incorrect, but that it is necessary from a religious perspective. On the other hand, Thomas Aquinas in the field of Christianity, by presenting various foundations, addressed reasoning in his religious texts and considers a religious thinker to be someone who employs thought and reasoning in those texts. This article, with a descriptive-analytical approach, seeks to analyze the views of both Ibn Rushd and Aquinas regarding reasoning in religious texts and concludes that Aquinas, through his teacher Albertus Magnus, utilized the works of the Muslim Ibn Rushd and used them as a medium for a better understanding of Aristotle's works.

Ibn Rushd, Aquinas, Andalusia, Reason, Religion
Introduction
One of the noteworthy points that every school must do to ensure the survival of its identity is to preserve the works and achievements of its great figures and predecessors.
What is concluded from this article, which has been written using a descriptive-analytical method, is that Ibn Rushd, who is the prominent commentator of Aristotle's works in the region of medieval Andalusia, through his precise attention to reasoning in religious texts, was able to, by means of Albert the Great, gain the attention of Thomas Aquinas3.

Interpretation (Ta'wil) of Certain Manifestations
Another point that Ibn Rushd mentions in support of the status of philosophers is that in some religious teachings, there exists an outward (zahir) and an inward (batin) aspect that only the elite are responsible for, and for this reason, it requires thought and reflection.
Ibn Rushd emphasizes this point that interpretation can only be done through the demonstrative method, otherwise, interpretation is erroneous: «ما قطع we have that everything which is demonstrative and contrary to the apparent meaning of Sharia, this appearance is according to the law of Arabic interpretation, and this matter is not subject to doubt for any Muslim or believer" (ibid.
What is summarized from this article is that Averroes, as an interpreter of Aristotle's works, believed in reasoning within religious texts, an idea that influenced Thomas Aquinas.
