After the demise of the Prophet (pbuh), the Arab rulers continued the tradition of the Prophet by appointing a successor. Thus, an epistemological epistemology and system was created with the focus on the foundations of the legitimacy of power in Islam, and many works were formed with this approach. From within these works, discourses were produced in the society and a special definition of the foundations of the legitimacy of the government was presented.One of the most important scenes in this confrontation is the confrontation between Ibn Taymiyyah and Al-Ulama Hali, which in Al-Minhaj Al-Sunnah and Al-Minhaj Al-Karama about the Imamate of Imam Ali (as), an issue that continued for centuries in the form of deep theoretical challenges between them. com Abstract The aim of the present research is to analyze the discourse of Imamate in the political thought of Allamah al-Hilli and Ibn Taymiyyah so that by highlighting their weaknesses and perspectives, based on reason, the Book, and Sunnah, a rational theory of Islam regarding political legitimacy can be guided.
Therefore, using Michel Foucault's discourse analysis method to express the similarities and differences between the two perspectives, it was shown that Ibn Taymiyyah, due to confusion in the concept of Imamate, has not been successful in theorizing.
