چکیده:
The relationship between ethics and politics in the thought of Miskawayh al-Razi constitutes the issue of this article. To avoid pre-judgment regarding the precedence or succession between ethics and politics and the subordination of one to the other, their relationship has been examined in terms of points of intersection and conceptual convergence as overlapping circles. The theoretical explanation of such a relationship is inspired by the model of 'Jürgen Habermas' in line with examining the relationship between ethics and politics in the history of Western political thought. Based on this theory, the 'correlation' of ethics and politics is explainable around the axis of conceptual intersection points, such that the end of these points is considered the beginning of a 'rupture' between these two fields. Based on this theory, the present article attempts to analyze and process the issue of how the axis of convergence and the points of intersection between ethics and politics in the political thought of Miskawayh al-Razi can be explained. By applying qualitative analysis methods at the levels of explanation and interpretation of existing information and texts in this regard, the present research concluded that in Miskawayh's political thought, ethics and politics intersect around the orbit of 'well-being and happiness,' and the attainment of happiness in this world becomes possible through living in a city by applying the best possible practices of exercising authority.
خلاصه ماشینی:
By applying the qualitative analysis method at the levels of explanation and interpretation of existing information and texts in this regard, the present research resulted in the conclusion that in Miskawayh's political thought, ethics and politics converge around the orbit of "living well and happiness," and the attainment of happiness in this world becomes possible through living in a city by applying the best possible methods of exercising authority.
For this reason, while believing in the independence of ethics and politics, the present research examines the relationship between these two by focusing on their intersection on the axis of common human goals and ends, and establishes its main problem as the discovery and explanation of this intersection and points of convergence in the political thought of Miskawayh al-Razī.
In Habermas's view, in contrast to classical political philosophy, which sought to create political law and order to provide citizens with the possibility of leading a "good and happiness-based life," Machiavelli and More separated the structure of domination from its ethical context and each established a new field of research (Habermas, 1974: 52).
Thus, with a reference to the aforementioned points, in a general sense and for the purpose of association, it can be said that the discussion of ethics in Miskawayh's thought finds no way to the goal except through the channel of philosophy, and the subject of his philosophical thinking in the realm of ethics is, above all, based on the knowledge of the essence and function of the human "soul.
