چکیده:
Resulting from the discursive dominance of modernity, the expansion of mass media, and especially the emergence and expansion of social networks, celebrity culture has become influential in the Iranian society. The present study mainly examines what celebrity culture is and what criticisms it has received from the perspective of Islam (verses and narrations). The research method is documentary in the data collection stage and analytical-critical in the data analysis stage. The research findings indicate that celebrity culture is not fundamentally and completely prohibited by Islam. However, in its current form, celebrity culture faces numerous criticisms from the Islamic perspective including giving value to fame and ostentation, the superficiality and vulgarization of culture, the substitution of celebrity for hero, blind imitation, rebelliousness, and the increasing spread of ostentatious actions.
خلاصه ماشینی:
According to Islamic logic, criticisms such as the legitimization of fame and being seen, the superficiality and vulgarization of culture, the replacement of heroes with celebrities, blind imitation, rebellion and disobedience, and the increasing expansion of performative actions are directed at celebrity culture.
Given the dominance of Islamic culture in Iranian society and the necessity of regulating the goals, ideals, orientations, policies, and actions of societal members based on the principles that guarantee human happiness and true perfection—namely the teachings of Islam—and also considering the connection and influence of celebrity culture on matters such as identity and the nature of social and political action, which are closely linked to the subject of human happiness and misery, the following question arises: What is celebrity culture, and what criticisms are leveled against it from an Islamic perspective?
Being seen and seeing in celebrity culture have been accompanied by two major types of transformation: first, that being seen and seeing have turned into a pervasive and widespread social value and have become an unprecedented cause of universal preoccupation; second, that the content and instance of being seen and seeing have changed from learning, discussing, and searching about great and worthy achievements and successes to learning, discussing, and searching about the daily life situations of others, as well as the details and marginal aspects of individuals' lives that are not so important.
Another criticism leveled against celebrity culture from the perspective of Islam is that the prominence of the position and the significant role-playing of celebrities in society has increased to such an extent that it has practically pushed heroes and great figures to the margins.
