In this regard, after providing brief explanations about discourse analysis, elements that must be examined when analyzing political discourses presented in the media are introduced, and finally, the article briefly examines the representation of Iran's role in the 33-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon on the BBC network. In this article, an attempt has been made to use discourse analysis-with a political approach-as a method for analyzing the media text of one of the BBC news networks and discovering ideological tendencies in news reporting, which has likely led to the formation of purposeful and biased news categories. Accordingly, in discourse analysis, unlike traditional linguistic analyses, we no longer deal solely with the syntactic and lexical elements constituting the sentence as the primary basis for explaining meaning, but rather go beyond that to factors outside the text, namely the situational context, i socio-cultural, political, communicative, etc. In discourse analysis, the set of social conditions, the context of occurrence of the text or writing, speech, non-verbal communication, and the relationship between structure and words are viewed in a general proposition (i) Context of Situation. 73 In any case, actions such as including the opinion of a "Lebanese citizen" stating that: "Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran are using our country as a battlefield against Israel," especially when accompanied by news indicating heavy damages and casualties inflicted on Lebanon, does not convey the BBC's neutrality regarding the cause of the war.
