The pathology of development management in the Islamic Republic of Iran is a noteworthy necessity in the process of compensating for the country's backwardness. Regardless of various notions regarding development and its diverse strategies that have turned development into an ambiguous myth, what is seriously important is the management of the process that guides and steers the country from an undesirable and unacceptable level to a desirable and acceptable level. The valuable experiences of Southeast Asian countries in the process of development indicate the vital and sublime role of development management in the process of becoming developed; the reality is that development requires strong and efficient management. The history of five development plans before the victory of the Islamic Revolution and about four development plans in the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and their expected lack of success, is an issue that leads experts on the country's development issues toward the scientific pathology of development management; in this regard, 'the country's political elites, who play a fundamental role in decision-making at high levels,' hold a special position. This article attempts to address the pathology of development management in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the direction of thematic explanation.
