چکیده:
As the first social institution, the family plays a very fundamental role in shaping human personality and characteristics; in this regard, family cohesion is considered one of the important constructs. The main objective of the present research is to predict family cohesion based on religious internalization styles. This research is of the descriptive type, conducted using the correlational method within a quantitative paradigm. The research participants, 232 individuals, include 137 married male students and 95 female students from Shiraz University, who were selected using convenience sampling. To measure family cohesion, the Family Systems Processes Scale was used, and to examine religious internalization styles, the Religious Self-Regulation Questionnaire by Ryan et al. was employed; the validity of the scales was determined through factor analysis and their reliability via Cronbach's alpha. The research results indicate desirable validity and reliability of the scales. Using simultaneous regression analysis, the extent to which family cohesion is predicted by each of the regulatory styles—identification and projection of religion—was investigated. The findings show that the identification regulatory style is a positive predictor, and the projection regulatory style is a negative predictor of family cohesion. Therefore, it can be said that religious regulatory styles are predictors of family cohesion, and possibly, by steering religious internalization styles toward identification, family cohesion can be increased.
