چکیده:
Nasikh al-Tawarikh is one of the works of Mirza Mohammad Taqi Sepehr Kashani. A part of this book is dedicated to Maqtal al-Husayn (AS). This Maqtal is considered one of the pioneers of Ashura distortions in recent centuries. The report that Sepehr has depicted regarding the uprising of Imam Husayn (AS) is taken from earlier and later Maqtal narrations and is textually chaotic; so much so that in some cases it has been inconsistent with established historical events, and in some cases, the dignity of the Infallible Imam (AS) has been compromised. Despite this, this Maqtal has been of great attention to Shia scholars, preachers, and eulogists. Maqtal al-Husayn (AS) in some cases invites the audience to reflection and doubt, and even in some cases, introduces the Shia as being influenced by specific beliefs. The present article aims to evaluate the historical and narrative contents of this book, which are highly questionable, through a library-based method and an analytical approach, and thereby point out some of the distortions that first took place among Ashura narrations as a result of this book.

He continues by addressing his Ashura sources and quoting his reports from the great figures of the Shiite and Sunni, including: Irshad, Lahuf, Muthir al-Ahzan, Maqatil al-Talibiyyin, Kitab al-Kabir, and books of manaqib from Imami and Zaydi scholars, Murawwij al-Dhahab, Manaqib Al Abi Talib, Kashf al-Ghummah, volumes of Bihar and Awalim, Tarikh al-Tabari, Tarikh [Ibn] al-Atham, Maqtal Abi Mikhnaf, Manaqib al-Khwarizmi, Tadhkirat al-Khawass, Matalib al-Sa'ul, Fusul al-Muhimmah, Zubdat al-Fikr, Rawdat al-Shuhada, and other books that some have specific sources recorded in the book and others are nameless (ibid.
" However, Sepehr's account is unreliable not only in this regard but in most of what he narrates, according to the evidence presented, for the following reasons: first, the author's lack of precision in recording names; for example, he recorded Ubaydullah bin Hurr as Abdullah Hurr (Sepehr, 1383: 2/148); second, the lack of reference to sources in cases including this one; also the recording points that are not mentioned in reliable history; moreover, the author of Nasikh al-Tawarikh wrote: Imam Husayn saw the companions in blood and dust and addressed them, saying: "Why do you not answer me?"; this is while Muslim bin Aqil and Hani bin Urwah were martyred in Kufa, and the phrase "مالی انادیکم فلا تجیبونی، و ادعوکم فلا تسمعونی؟!
_ Martyrdom of Tirmah ibn Adi (Sepehr, 1383: 2/311) and his anomalous narration regarding the return of the Imam's head to his body and seeing the Prophet in the killing field, cited from the Maqtal attributed to Abu Mikhnaf (ibid.
