Mir Shams al-Din Iraqi is one of the Iranians who, like Sayyid Ali Hamadani, lived in Kashmir for many years. He traveled to Kashmir twice. During the era of the Muslim sultans of Kashmir, in the late 9th and early 10th centuries AH, through great effort and enthusiasm, he was able to become the source of significant historical, cultural, and social transformations in the Kashmir region, the results of which are evident to this day. He was a preacher with a revolutionary spirit who, through his deep familiarity with the Kashmir region and with the support of important religious figures such as Baba Ali Najjar and influential statesmen such as Malik Musa Rina and Kaji Chak and his disciples, was able to invite a large part of the people of Kashmir and Baltistan to the Nurbakhshiya order and the Shia religion. In the present article, while introducing Shams al-Din Iraqi—which includes topics such as his name, lineage, birthplace, teachers, religion, and actions—his influential role and achievements in the Kashmir region are examined.
