چکیده:
With the prevalence of the semantic approach in the Qur’ānic studies، a new method has appeared in this phenomenon. This method is targeted at unveiling comprehensive meanings that are hidden in the layers of the text. Using Isuzu’s method and completing it in the verses relation sections within the limits of the sūra and the Qur’ān، this article has studied the word kabad first from lexical and then semantic point of view. The writer has analyzed it in several stages with the use of the words close to its meaning and contradictory to it and structural balance of the text، and then concluded that contrary to the common concept of the word kabad، this word does not contain a negative meaning and refers to the limitations of the world of matter and Divine Wisdom in man’s free will.

Conclusion By conducting a semantic study through lexicographical tools, textual context, and discourse, as well as examining synonyms and antonyms of the word 'kabad'—which has been revealed only once in the Holy Quran within the blessed Surah Al-Balad—the following results can be obtained: _ Contrary to what is seen in the apparent meaning of the word 'kabad' in most translations and commentaries, where it is understood from a negative perspective as meaning hardship, toil, suffering, and affliction in human life, as was observed, 'kabad' refers to the type of limitations and needs that exist inherently in the system of creation and are unavoidable for humans; therefore, it has no negative meaning and represents balance.
