چکیده:
Social ceremonies and seasons are a manifestation of the customs, traditions, history, culture, and other intellectual and religious components of a society. One of the points that makes the historical investigation of religious ceremonies and seasons important is the analysis of authenticity versus innovation in religious rituals and symbols; because some may, with a literalist approach, oppose any new symbol or ritual not explicitly stated by the Infallibles, while others, citing generalities and public points, may feel free to invent self-made rituals attributed to religion. Based on the understanding of such a necessity, this article attempts—under the assumption that religious seasons and ceremonies are one of the important sources for strengthening religious beliefs—to examine the behavior of Amir al-Mu'minin Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him) within the timeframe of the month of Ramadan as a religious occasion and season across three main axes: personal biography (Sira), social biography, and political biography. The personal biography of Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) demonstrates an interest in cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, health, humility, sincerity, benevolence, moderation, and spiritual goal-setting in material life. His social biography shows teachings such as convergence and interaction, attention to proselytization and social responsibility, attention to mosques as an effective socio-political institution, the positioning of religious rituals within social rights, emphasis on the creedal, mystical, and ethical results of religious duties, fighting against innovations (bid'ah), and attention to the economic aspects of religious rituals. Attention to Jihad, political responsibility, and the use of spiritual factors and motivators in political measures hold a special place in his political biography (peace be upon him).
