چکیده:
This is an introduction and a content and formal critique of Bahauddin Khorramshahi's translation of the Quran. After providing complete bibliographic information, the author considers the fluent, readable, and attractive translation, the existence of equivalents for all Quranic words and phrases, the explanations in the footnotes, the Quranic glossary, articles, and the list of explanations as strengths of this translation. Furthermore, several instances of inconsistency between the translator's discourse and his practical translation method are criticized. Finally, the strengths and weaknesses of the translator's explanations in the footnotes, the Arabic-Persian Quranic glossary, and the glossary appendix are examined.
خلاصه ماشینی:
For example, the word (أحبار) appears 4 times in the Quran, for which no more fluent Persian or Arabic equivalent has been provided in this translation; or the phrase (ما ملکت ایمانهم) or similar phrases appear nearly 15 times in the Quran, for which the equivalent (ملک یمین) has been provided, and only two or three times has (کنیزان) been placed in brackets as an explanation, whereas (ملک یمین) is generally not familiar or understandable to Persian speakers.
) To be fair, he excels in this regard (providing equivalents for all Quranic words) compared to most translations before him, but a few instances of untranslated words and phrases are also noticeable, such as: (من دون اللّه) in Al-Ahqaf (46)5, (اذ) in Al-Imran (3) 187, (قبلهم) in Al-Hajj (22) 42, as well as numerous instances of (کان) and its other forms (in the past continuous combination) or frequent Quranic emphases that have not been translated, which we will discuss in due course.
For example, the phrase (بماکانوا یفسقون) appears 5 times in the Quran, but it is noteworthy that its equivalents in the translation are different and some are not accurate and correct, such as: (due to their disobedience) in Al-A'raf (7) 163; (because of their committing disobedience) in Al-Ankabut (29) 34, (because they had disobeyed) in Al-A'raf (7) 165, (as punishment for their disobedience) in Al-Baqarah (2) 59, (because of their disobedience) in Al-An'am (6) 49.
