Nöldeke's theory of the order of revelation is one of the most important theories proposed among Orientalists and Nöldeke himself, which has risen to a special position in the field of Quranic studies due to its detailed nature and its impact on other Orientalist Quranic studies. However, among the scientific efforts surrounding Nöldeke's views and theories, no work was found that pathologically critiques Nöldeke's method. Given the importance of the aforementioned theory and the void in its pathological critique, this writing aims to identify one of the methodological features of this theory, which is the excessive use of the verse length tool in discovering the order of revelation of surahs; and by tracing it through contextualization and gathering signs, it seeks to find the causes and factors of this type of use of verse length. In this descriptive-analytical article, Nöldeke's quantitative basis and his influence by the scientific discourse of Germany in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are introduced as the main reasons for the excessive use of verse length. As the intellectual basis of quantism draws studies toward quantitative and numerical elements such as verse length, the prevailing scientific discourse will undoubtedly leave its mark on the flow of science.
