Ali Akbar (peace be upon him) is one of the most prominent martyrs of the Karbala battlefield, whose position holds great importance in the culture of Muharram and the mourning of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), and he has been introduced to the Islamic community as the best role model for youth; however, his birth date and blessed age remain shrouded in ambiguity. This writing attempts to provide a relatively clear picture of his lifespan by researching historical sources. Other topics related to this research include identifying the eldest child of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), understanding the time of the Commander of the Faithful Ali (peace be upon him), and the identification of Ali Akbar (peace be upon him) in the paragraphs of ziyarat-namas.

Fame and Consensus of Most Historians The researcher Shushtari writes in Qamus al-Rijal: Imam Sajjad (AS) was approximately a 22-year-old man on the day of Ashura, and Ali Akbar was older than him.
Considering that in this narration, Ali Akbar (AS) is mentioned as a martyr, and on the other hand, the blessed age of Imam Sajjad (AS), according to the famous view, was twenty-three years old on that day (Ibn Sa'd, 1414: 5/212), the opinion that he was 25 or 27 years old also gains preference.
Considering the fame and consensus of historians and genealogists, Hazrat Ali al-Akbar (AS) was the eldest son of Imam Husayn (AS) and was martyred in Karbala, and his blessed age on the day of Ashura was approximately 27 years.
