چکیده:
The outbreak of Coronavirus gave rise to tremendous changes across the world. Upon the outbreak of this disease and humans' failure in overcoming it, a number of questions came up. Is this disease a kind of Divine punishment? Is Coronavirus merely a natural phenomenon or a moral evil rooted in humans' deeds? Are the explanations provided by experimental sciences in contradiction with the unseen relationship between sins and calamities? And lastly, the main question is whether this pandemic is likely to be the result of the new sins committed by humankind. Drawing upon the Quranic verses and the traditions transmitted from the Infallible Imams (à) as well as applying an analytical and traditional approach, the present article aims to demonstrate that the new sins perpetrated by humankind definitely play a role in the emergence of new natural and unnatural calamities. There is no conflict between the justifications of experimental sciences and spiritual analyses, and modern sciences cannot deny the immaterial impact of human conduct on the emergence of some phenomena. Therefore, the impact of some new sins on the emergence of a new form of punishment cannot be exactly proven. Similarly, the outbreak of a new disaster or disease cannot be considered to be a definite result of an unprecedented sin.

The present article, using Quranic verses and the traditions of the Infallibles (and through analytical and narrative methods), seeks to prove that new human sins are definitely effective in the emergence of new natural and non-natural calamities.
" In another place, He says: "God intends them to punish them for some of their sins" (Ma'idah: 49); "and We destroyed them because of their sins" (An'am: 6); "and We punished them for their deeds" (A'raf: 96); "these are their houses which have become empty because of their oppression and injustice" (Naml: 52); "they were drowned because of their sins" (Nuh: 35); "He crushed them because of their sins and made their land level and flat" (Shams: 14); "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves" (Ra'd: 11); "It is not as they think, but rather their deeds have become like a coating over their hearts" (Mutaffifin: 14); "and whatever affliction befalls you is because of what your hands have earned, and He forgives much" (Shura: 30).
In the Quran, as a reliable source historically, numerous examples have been mentioned in this regard, some of which are briefly referred to, including: ـ In Surah Al-Anfal, the descent of punishment upon the people of Pharaoh and those from other past nations is mentioned, and their sins and transgressions are cited as the cause: (The condition of these polytheists) is like the condition of the associates of Pharaoh and those before them; they denied the signs of Allah, so Allah punished them for their sins.
