Titles and kunyas, regardless of their usefulness in identifying individuals, can serve as important sources in intellectual, political, and even religious historiography. The philosophy of naming, social context and effects, historical evolution, typology of those attributed to these titles, dependents, and followers are all dimensions that can hold significant results in historical studies. Examining these titles and designations by benefiting from other sciences such as genealogy (Ansab), biographical evaluation (Rijal), mysticism (Irfan), ethics, and exegesis (Tafsir) can also expand the scope of these propositions. This research, by examining the historical and conceptual evolution of Abu Turab, seeks to draw researchers' attention to this function of titles and designations in historical studies.

Perhaps the reason for the special attention of the Umayyad caliphs to spreading this title can be attributed to marginalizing the name and other characteristics of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib(; because the use of Abu Turab in the social and political literature of the Umayyad era is not equivalent to the function of this compound in the Prophetic era and hadith texts; meaning that Abu Turab was not given the same attention in the Umayyad period as it was used in the Prophetic era.
