چکیده:
Among Shia hadith collections, Bihar al-Anwar has gained greater importance due to the greater comprehensiveness of its topics, sources, and hadiths, and the scholarly presence of its author, Allamah Mohammad Baqir Majlisi. The study of Bihar al-Anwar and the explanations of Allamah Majlisi demonstrate his selective behavior when facing sources and hadiths. Following the text-oriented hadith scholars before him, he placed more emphasis on textual clues than on chain-of-transmission (isnad) clues in validating hadiths. This research, using a descriptive-analytical method on the seventh volume of Bihar al-Anwar regarding hadiths related to Imamate, shows that in addition to text-orientation, Allamah Majlisi utilized original and early Shia sources and musnad hadiths more extensively in selecting hadiths. His method in most cases was to use a collection of hadiths from one chapter of a specific source to complete the hadith family on a subject, but the reason for preferring one source over another is not clear in some cases.

The introduction of Bihar al-Anwar contains two important points regarding the discussion of Majlisi's foundations of the science of hadith: A) In addition to the reliability and scientific status of the author and the certainty of the book's attribution to its author, Majlisi has introduced other internal or external indicators (qara'in) of that source for trusting the sources of Bihar al-Anwar: Internal indicators: the agreement of its narrations with the narrations of reliable hadith books prior to it, the existence of authorizations from scholars or their handwriting or corrections on a copy of it, having useful and rare content, the compatibility of the style and context of the text of its narrations with the texts of authentic hadiths, having good chains of transmission, the author's failure to mix Imami reports with Sunni (Ammah) reports, leniency in the evidence of sunan for works containing moral hadiths, etiquettes, and supplications, the order of the book, and accurate recording and documentation.
Unreliable sources in Bihar al-Anwar In general, after ensuring the attribution of a book to a reliable author, based on his hadith-oriented method and considering the existence of some of the aforementioned indicators regarding the work, and according to the practice of rational people (sira al-uqala) regarding trust in the report of a truthful informant, and following the method of early narrators such as Sheikh Saduq, Sheikh Tusi, and Sayyid ibn Tawus, Majlisi has trust and good opinion of the sources.
