چکیده:
Allameh Mohammad Baqer Majlisi is considered one of the greatest revivers of Shia Hadith and one of the unparalleled and successful promoters of Imami theology in the intellectual school of Isfahan. Regardless of the jurisprudential and Hadith-based innovations and services of this Shia scholar, his epistemological system is intertwined with lasting theological and religious studies achievements. However, unfortunately, this dimension of Majlisi's thought has received less attention from researchers compared to its narrative and Hadith dimensions. Given this research gap, the present writing aims to reconstruct and present a model of understanding religion in his theological thought, inspired by the views and intellectual and methodological foundations of Allameh Majlisi. The re-reading and critical analysis of the epistemological components and elements of this model—such as: Akhbariism and the precedence of tradition over reason, attention to the paradigm and surrounding environment of the text and speech issuance, the necessity of loyalty to the text with a minimal approach in adopting interpretation (ta'wil) as a method, the conventional realism of religious language, and the principle of conscious control of presuppositions in the process of understanding—are considered among the most important findings of this research. However, since Majlisi's Akhbari pattern and style were not free from methodological shortcomings, the author, in order to remedy this deficiency and complete and refine his cognitive model, has proposed and explained the adoption of a demonstrative approach and the principle of the authority and validity of reason as one of the essential components in the logic of understanding religion.

He also, in the theological issue of "Bodily Resurrection"—which is also considered among the essential principles of Islam and is among the investigative and rational issues—considers the cause of belief in it to be explicit verses and definitive mutawatir narrations, and while emphasizing his general view regarding the primacy of tradition over reason, he writes: "The most cautious and preferable [choice] is that we confirm the proof of bodily resurrection and its characteristics, as presented in these texts, based on what has come mutawatir in the [Quranic and traditional] texts, and we avoid delving into matters of this kind that we have not been obligated to; because it is possible to reach things that do not coincide with reality, and in that case, our excuse will not be accepted from a Sharia perspective" (Ibid.
