چکیده:
One of the types of tourism that has attracted the attention of tourists and planners in recent decades is 'war tourism'. The imposed war of the Ba'ath regime of Iraq against the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the wars whose epics and valor have been recorded in history and holds special attractions for tourists; therefore, based on this, the present research addressed assessing tourist trends (choosing the type of tourism), the level of interest for tourists' return, and comparing the studied regions in terms of war memorials. This research is descriptive-analytical in method, used a researcher-made questionnaire for data collection, and employed univariate tests and regression for data analysis. The findings of the research indicate the existence of a positive and significant relationship between tourist satisfaction and their return to the region, the entry of tourists to the region with purely spiritual goals related to war tourism factors, and differences in the effects of war tourism in different provinces. Finally, solutions have been provided to improve and expand this type of tourism and increase the number of incoming tourists to the studied regions.

The importance of the research under study lies in assisting managers, officials, and even local people in attending to incoming tourists, whether in terms of creating attraction and interest for returning to the region, or from the perspective of benefiting from the economic effects that incoming tourists have on improving the quality of life of the locals, and also introducing new generations to the ideals, values, and valor of the Sacred Defense through promotion to new generations and individuals who have not yet visited these attractions.
The distinction made in the present research compared to previous studies includes topics such as attention to sustainable tourism from the perspective of continuous return to the study areas and topics related to advertising to attract other tourists, assessing the effects of war tourism in the study areas from various components, considering the views of groups effective in developing this type of tourism (experts, incoming tourists), assessing the primary goal of entering the region to strengthen that specific type of tourism, etc.
