چکیده:
The word 'ignorance' (Jahl) in lexicography is the opposite of 'knowledge' (Ilm), and from the perspective of some lexicographers, it stands in opposition to 'forbearance' (Hilm); however, in the terminology of Quranic verses, it is used in opposition to 'reason' (Aql). The Holy Quran has addressed the condemnation of the ignorant in numerous expressions, considering it the source of many human afflictions which, if not properly treated, lead to individual ruin. What the instances of the ignorant are in the Quran and what methods the Holy Quran has stated for combating them is among the issues addressed in this research. From the examination of verses related to ignorance, it can be concluded that ignorance has a semantic opposition to words such as knowledge, forbearance, and reason; and lustful people, mockers, idolaters, oppressors, stubborn people, those who harbor suspicion regarding God's command, show-offs, and sinners are introduced as instances of the ignorant in the Quran. Among the methods of combating the ignorant, one can mention cases such as investigation and clarification, controlling desires, humility and modesty, patience, and not surrendering to deviations.

3- A Master's thesis titled "Semantics of Ignorance in the Holy Quran with a Structural Approach" by Jafar Eskandari, which was organized in 1393 at Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) University and has addressed the explanation of the word 'Jahl' using linguistic methods, but does not specifically explain the present subject.
Such a person is also called ignorant, even though they have knowledge of the prohibition of those acts, but the reality of the matter is hidden from them; because if it were in the first sense, meaning lack of knowledge, and the evil deed mentioned in the verse, its ruling or subject was unknown to them, then committing them would not be a sin requiring repentance, forgiveness, and mercy.
(Qara'ati, 1386: 6, 73) In this verse, Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) sought help from God and said: My Lord, if You do not turn away the cunning, deception, and dangerous schemes of these defiled women from me, my heart will incline toward them and I will be among the ignorant; for if I have kept their evil away from myself until now, it has been through the knowledge that You taught me, and if You withhold Your grace from me, I will become like other ignorant people and fall into the abyss of passion and lust.
