چکیده:
Since ancient times, scholars of Islamic sciences have sought various ways to discover the meaning in the text of traditions and especially the Quran. Among these methods is paying attention to the context (siyaq) of verses and traditions, which has many benefits in understanding the meanings of the Quran; among the influential aspects of context are its role in explaining vocabulary, its role in determining a sentence, combining Quranic verses by looking at the context, criticizing interpretive hadiths through context, expressing the meanings of letters with context, the role of context in determining the application of a word, and context and preference and determining one of the readings (qira'at). In this article, first, the lexical definition of context (siyaq), its background and root, and the finding of proportionality between its lexical and terminological concepts are addressed; subsequently, the terminological definition of context is examined, which includes expressing various opinions, stating the objections raised against them, and determining the correct opinion, in order to answer the fundamental question: what is the lexical and terminological concept of context (siyaq)?

However, considering the context, it becomes clear that the aforementioned verse is a narration of the words of Prophet Abraham (AS) addressed to his people, reproaching them for worshipping idols; thus, this verse is in the context of condemning polytheism (shirk); meaning that what they worship from idols is, in essence, the creation of God. Since the discussion of context and its concept and function in the Quran plays a significant role in the process of interpreting the Holy Quran, considerable articles have been authored in the last two decades, especially in the past decade, regarding this matter, addressing the conceptualization of context in various interpretations and its function in interpretation from the perspective of different commentators.
Since these clues move and drive the speech toward a certain meaning so that the correct and intended meaning is adopted, this aspect can be considered a reason for the application of the term Siyaq, which means driving Fakhr al-Din bin Muhammad al-Tarihi, 1375 SH, Majma' al-Bahrayn, Vol. 5, p.
