Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Kermanshah National Skill University, Iran Abstract In this article, we aim to investigate the impact and role of townships in cities, especially large cities, and to examine all the benefits of these areas. Today, townships have been able to ensure that congestion at the city level is managed such that each region possesses its own economic, social, and cultural characteristics, preventing overcrowding and population congestion in the city center and streets, as well as the creation of traffic in the streets. Another reason for creating townships in large cities is to establish order in construction and urban planning, as well as lawfulness in the field of urban construction, and also so that each township or region has its own municipal management that can investigate the issues and problems related to each area, which in turn leads to the process of progress in the urban domain. The city of Kermanshah, due to its large population of nearly 2 million people, which is considered among the metropolitan provinces of Iran, has been divided into several townships due to its area, where each township is dedicated to a part of the city, such as residential townships, industrial townships, commercial and tourism townships, national housing townships, etc. (Refer to the page image) Residential townships: These are called townships that have certain geographical features and are located near the city center with services, and also in terms of building architecture, they consist of apartments, villas, and independent houses, and also from the perspective of ownership, they differ in townships and buildings.
