Earthquakes are natural disasters that have devastating effects on human societies, especially in urban areas. Given the rapid population growth and the uncontrolled development of cities, the risk of earthquakes and the resulting damage in metropolises, particularly in areas with unsafe buildings and weak infrastructural systems, has increased. In this article, the earthquake risk in metropolises is analyzed, and the factors affecting the intensity and scope of its impact on populations and infrastructure are examined. Furthermore, various solutions for reducing human and financial losses caused by earthquakes in urban areas, such as improving building structures, upgrading warning systems, and managing post-earthquake crises, are analyzed. The aim of this article is to identify the challenges and opportunities of crisis management in the face of earthquakes and to suggest practical solutions for strengthening urban resilience.
