خلاصه ماشینی:
Through the correspondence of social relations—which contain many economic and political assumptions—with the roles of individuals at the micro level, of which gender is a part, street harassment turns into a complex phenomenon for description and analysis to the extent that a consensus definition does not yet exist (Tuerkheimer, 1997: 169-171; Gardner, 1995: 14-18) because women have different experiences of the type and quality of harassment in different social positions (Tuerkheimer, 1997: 167).
The description and classification of the phenomenon of street harassment also depict the related relations; women's perceptions of themselves in the sexual division of labor, perceptions of men's roles, the nature and causes of harassment, coping mechanisms, the mechanisms producing harassment, and its functions or dysfunctions in relation to the general norms of regulating male-female relations are among the concepts that will guide the analysis of the research data.
In an article conducted with the aim of studying sexual violence through women's sexual harassment in public spaces in Morocco, this type of harassment has been identified as the result of the discriminatory status of women in patriarchal social, cultural, and political relations (Chafai, 2017: 821).
Despite the fact that the article introduces the issue of street harassment as a result of economic relations and their links to the cultural and social status of women, it identifies the solution to this phenomenon as political and a result of the determination and will of individuals, which is provided by raising awareness among them to grant equal opportunities to women.
