چکیده:
The southern wall plays an important role on heating perfrmance and energy consumption of residential buildings. This study investigates the effects of southern wall angle, glass area and external canopy on heating perfrmance and energy consumption of a typical residential building in Yazd. Using causality method and thermal simulation by DesignBuilder simulator, we examined energy consumption in 33 situations under differnt angles of southern wall (from zero to 60 degrees), and under different glass areas on the surface. According to the results a southern wall with a maximum glass area, with external retractable canopy and with an angle of 15º, would reduce daily heating requirment and energy consumption of the residential building by 43% and 17% from 8 to18 o'clock, respectively. These figures would decrease to 9.1%, 6.7% respectively, for the whole day.

07 Evaluation of the effect of the southern wall angle, with the vertical axis, on the heating demand and energy consumption of residential buildings in Yazd Elham Sarkardeh-yee Assistant Professor, Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Shahrood University of Technology (Corresponding Author) sarkardehee@gmail.
In this research, the effect of southern wall parameters; glass area and external shading, with changing the angle of the southern wall (with the vertical axis) in a residential building in the city of Yazd was investigated.
Findings showed that the southern wall ₤15, with maximum glazing area (single skin) having an external movable shade, in two time intervals (8-18 hours) and the whole day with a one-year step, reduces the heating demand by 43% and 17% and energy consumption (heating-cooling) by 9.
Focusing on reducing the heating demand of the building through southern walls and openings by creating passive heating (direct absorption method) and saving fossil fuel energy consumption is the main goal of this study.
The effect of the southern wall angle with single-pane glass on heating needs (Refer to the page image) Source: Research findings In cold months, the external movable shading device opens over the window from 4 PM until 5 AM the next day.
With the increase in the southern wall angle, the positive effect of having glass, especially double-pane, as a solar energy receiver, and an external movable shading device as a thermal insulator, in reducing heating demand is very significant.
