Sociological analysis of factors affecting attitude towards fertility (Case study: Education employees of Andimeshk city) Dr. Ishaq Arjmand Siahpush 1, Mehdi Zeyniandian 2 and Dr. Darius Rezapour 3 Date of receipt: 2020/12/10 Date of acceptance: 2021/06/11 Abstract: Fertility, as one of the components of demographic changes, is one of the topics that has attracted significant attention in the field of social issues.
The process of industrialization, which transformed the economic functions of the traditional family, has played a major role in reducing fertility rates; however, other factors such as the rising costs of forming and managing a family, which have led to an increase in the age of marriage and delayed childbearing, the expansion of contraceptive methods, family instability, new ideologies regarding families, women's lives, and women's efforts to achieve employment and greater freedom have also been involved in this occurrence (Bostan & et al.
However, the importance of birth at the level of the family does not end; rather, the value of having a child has broad social, internal, cultural, demographic, and economic dimensions, and parents do not desire children solely for functional reasons.
Regression analysis results also indicate that age at first marriage, ideal number of children, place of residence, literacy status, religion, mass media, use of family planning methods, household size, and child mortality have been the most important variables explaining the variance in fertility (Adhikari, 2010).
