چکیده:
Food security has various dimensions in the economic, social, cultural, natural resources and environmental fields, which is one of the most important components of development. Natural resources and the environment play an important role in the life and development of human societies and the sustainability of food security. In the present study, the effects of pollution emission and exploitation of natural resources on food security in Iran in the form of VECM model in the period of 1992-2017 were investigated. According to the results, energy productivity in the agricultural sector, value added in the agricultural sector and the use of natural resources in the studied period had a positive effect on Iran's food security index; in addition, the variables of carbon dioxide emission in the agricultural sector and the unemployment rate had a negative effect on the food security. The coefficient of the ECM variable indicated that in each period, 5.73 percent of the imbalance error would disappear. Establishing the necessary infrastructure to improve energy productivity in the agricultural sector, in order to increase production in this sector and thus, reduce the spread of pollution is recommended to improve food security, given the positive impact of energy efficiency.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Given the importance and role of natural resources and the environment, as well as their protection in people's lives, and also the position of food security and its establishment in society as one of the important dimensions of development, in the following research, the effect of carbon dioxide emissions in the agricultural sector (having the largest share among pollutants) and the exploitation of natural resources on the food security of the country's households will be evaluated to examine the short-term and long-term relationship in the form of a time series econometric model; and the required information for the period 1371 to 1396 (1992-2017) has been extracted from the World Bank, the Central Bank, and the Statistical Center of Iran.
In order to determine the appropriate time series model to achieve the study objective through the stages described, if the results of the tests confirm the existence of a long-term relationship between the model variables, the VECM model is accepted as the appropriate model, which based on these variables, this model is written in the form of equation (7): (Refer to page image) where LAHFSI is the logarithm of the food security index, PRO is energy productivity in the agricultural sector, CO2 is the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in the agricultural sector, LGDPG is the logarithm of agricultural value added, LUNEM is the logarithm of the unemployment rate, LDEPL is the logarithm of natural resource extraction, and LKOFGI is the logarithm of the globalization index.
