6. 0 Abstract Abd al-Wasi' Jabali is a poet of the sixth century AH, whom the majority of researchers consider a participant in the stylistic shift of Persian poetry from Khorasani to Iraqi.
An analysis of Abd al-Wasi' Jabali's poems shows that the invocation of related chains of familial 'mushabbah-bihi' (the thing compared to), the simultaneous mention of an identical 'mushabbah-bihi' for two 'mushabbahs' (the things being compared) with two different 'wujuh-e shabah' (points of similarity) in a single verse, inverted similes and the exchange of positions between 'mushabbah' and 'mushabbah-bihi', literal similes, and the diversity and variety of 'mushabbah' and 'mushabbah-bihi' are among the reasons for the obscurity of simile in his poems; to the extent that it can be said that the poet utilized simile more as an art form for the purpose of pedantry and showing off rather than as a literary device for aesthetic creation, and the dominant content of panegyric in his Divan is hidden under a layer of strange, pretentious, artificial, and boastful similes.
Therefore, since Abd al-Wasi' Jabali is a prominent poet with his own unique poetic method and played a key role in the transition of the style of Persian poetry from Khorasani to Iraqi, an analysis of simile in his Divan becomes necessary.
As can be observed, the frequency of simile with chain-like mushabbah-bihi in Abd al-Wasi' Jabali's qasida is higher than in Athir Akhsikati's, with a ten percent difference.
