چکیده:
The purpose of this study was the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on the quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) and the symptoms of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In this quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group, from patients with OCD referred to psychiatric and psychological clinics in Kerman in 2019-2020, 40 patients were selected by available and according to purposive sampling and were randomly assigned in to experimental and control groups. After the diagnosing OCD in patients using research user,s guide for the structured clinical interview and recording QEEG data from 19 locations of their brains, in the experimental group, based on QEEG, for each patient was assigned a treatment protocol and this group underwent tDCS treatment (25 sessions, 60-minutes). Participants were evaluated twice (pre-test and post-test) by The Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale (Y-BOCS) and QEEG recording and data were analyzed by covariance analysis (ANCOVA) and Paired-Samples t Test. The results showed that tDCS is effective in improving the symptoms of OCD patients and modifying the brain wave pattern of patients. Therefore, this method may be used as an effective and uncomplicated therapeutic strategy.

After diagnosing obsessive-compulsive disorder in patients using the research version of the structured clinical interview and recording quantitative electroencephalography pattern data from 19 brain locations, the treatment protocol for the experimental group was determined based on each individual's quantitative electroencephalography pattern, and this group underwent transcranial direct current stimulation treatment (25 sessions of 60 minutes each).
The results showed that transcranial direct current stimulation improved the symptoms of individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder and corrected the pattern 1Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran.
Studies investigating the quantitative electroencephalography pattern of OCD show that brain wave dysfunction is seen in different forms and in different regions of the brain among various patients; among these studies is the Fronto-Striatal Model 5, which considers hyperactivity in the orbitofrontal cortical 6 pathways (OFC) which causes increased attention to threatening stimuli, and decreased activity in the pre-supplementary motor area (pre-SMA) 7, which is responsible for inhibitory control, as being involved in this disorder (Green et al.
, 1398), anodal stimulation of the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex to reduce delta and theta frequency bands in this region and anodal stimulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (Jafari, Younsi, Darvishi, and Ahmadi, 2018), placement of the cathode electrode in the frontal orbital cortex area and the anode in the right part of the cerebellum (Yousefi Asl, Morsali, and Dadashi, 1397), anodal stimulation of the left hemisphere and cathodal stimulation of the right hemisphere (Palm, Leitner, Kirsch, Behler 2 et al.
