Therefore, the present research has attempted, using a descriptive-analytical method, to explain and analyze three important characteristics of the epic genre in the poems of Qaqaa bin Amr al-Tamimi, an Arab poet and warrior during the Islamic conquests.
The results of the research showed that a number of Qaqaa's epic poems possess some of the most important epic structures such as: war and combat, the hero with all his epic characteristics, and a resonant epic style; however, due to growing in a realistic and Islamic environment, it lacks the characteristics of mythological epics such as talismans and magic, astrology, the existence of strange animals, jinn and fairies, and the element of prophecy.
If we wish to name an example of poems with an epic theme in Arabic literature, undoubtedly the poetry of the conquest poets, and especially the poems of Qaqaa, are prominent and noteworthy examples of this literary type, possessing some of the most prominent epic elements such as war, the hero, and style.
Qa'qa' has also paid significant attention to the description of war weapons; it is as if he is aware of their importance in epic poetry; because the weapon is the only companion of the poet in the critical moments of combat and battle: لم تعرف الخیـل العــراب ســــواءنا عشــیة أغـــواث بجنــب القـــوادس عــــــشیة رحـــنا بالرمــاح کأنهــا علی القـــوم ألوان الطیــور الرســارس (Qa'qa', verses: 27) (Translation) "Thoroughbred horses knew no one but us on the night of the battle of Aghwath [the second day of the Battle of Qadisiyyah] beside the ships.
