The agricultural sector holds a special position in the country due to ensuring food security. Statistics indicate that during the first nine months of 1396, nearly 13.97 million tons of agricultural products were imported into the country, accounting for approximately 52.5% of the country's total commodity imports by volume. On the other hand, reflection on the statistics of imported goods indicates a dependency on strategic products and essential agricultural inputs. The import of strategic goods and essential inputs of the agricultural sector creates political, economic, geographical, and other threats for the country, which can include cases such as increased dependency, reduction of political power, waste of national resources, reduction of social capital, and threats to processing and complementary industries. Based on this, items such as reducing dependency on raw materials, formulating appropriate cultivation patterns, and using modern agricultural methods in line with achieving Clause 7 of the general policies of the resistant economy are proposed.

In contrast, the country's imports indicate that strategic products and agricultural inputs are among the top 10 major imported goods to the country.
