چکیده:
Gender inequality is one of the challenges that can be found in most societies and is affected by a variety of factors. The main objective of this study is to compare the perception of gender inequality between mothers and daughters and to examine social factors influencing that perception. The study was a survey and the population was all married women aged 30 - 64 years and 15-19-year-old daughters in the city of Yazd. The sampling was based on a multistage probability method and the sample size was 488 people. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of gender socialization, gender stratification, liberal feminism, and Blood and Wolf's theory of resources. The findings show that the relationship between gender socialization, gender role-play, gender ideology, gender stereotyped-beliefs, gender norms, decision-making based on the framework of family control, and a sense of gender inequality is positive and significant.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Additionally, the results indicated that in the group of daughters, only three variables—gender stereotypes, gender norms, and power structure—had a significant direct effect on the feeling of gender inequality, while the remaining structural variables had only an indirect effect, which together explain 23 percent of the variance of the feeling of inequality gender inequality.
Furthermore, considering that on one hand, in recent years, the city of Yazd has been facing rapid changes towards development and modernization, and indicators such as industrial growth, urbanization rate, immigrant receptivity, literacy rate, and human and social development (based on statistics from 2011 to 2014) indicate this trend, and on the other hand, many experts correctly still identify Yazd as a traditional and religious city, such that many values and norms of the lives of ancestors also more or less manifest in the social life of contemporary people, by selecting two different generations, it is possible to examine the difference or lack of difference in the feeling of gender inequality among the mothers and daughters of this city and, through this, to separately identify the most important influencing factors.
