چکیده:
Ebn-e Sarrāj of Demashq (d. 747/1346), judge, Sufi, and literary man, was a native of Shām (Greater Syria) in the latter half of the 7th and the first half if the 8th /13th century. Of his works, there has remained to date a manuscript of his Tashviq al-Arvāh va al-Qoloob as well as separate manuscripts of the third part of this same book styled Toffāh al-Arvāh va al-Qoloob. The Toffāh al-Arvāh is a hagiographical text on the lives of Sufis chiefly hailing from such geographical regions as Shām, Iraq and Al-Jazira (northern Mesopotamia). In the present article, a life story of Ebn-e Sarrāj and a list of his masters and works are first presented and, then, his Toffāh al-Arvāh is introduced in some detail. Subsequently, the significance of the book in identifying the Sufis of Shām is indicated through certain pieces of firsthand information contained in the book, this being implemented first, by locating the graves of those Sufis and, secondly, by redacting and correcting their lives.

It is clear that the current village of Izz al-Din is the aforementioned village of "Sillah" mentioned in Ibn Sirraj's Tuffah al-Arwah, which was later renamed by attributing it to Sheikh Izz al-Din. Another shrine is the famous tomb known as "al-Nabi Ya'furi," located between the two villages of "Mas'adah" and "Majdal Shams" in the occupied "Golan" region in southwestern Syria, which is considered one of the important shrines for followers of the Druze sect today, and they hold a collective pilgrimage ceremony there every year on August 25.
Although Ibn Sirraj has not provided an independent biography for Ahmad al-Sayyad in Tuffah al-Arwah, he has addressed the virtues and karamat of two of his disciples named Sheikh Mani bin Ismail Hamawi and his brother Safi al-Din (d.
