چکیده:
Story criticism in Arabic literature, in the late twentieth century, influenced by morphology and structuralism, entered a new stage that dealt with the elements of the story and narrative methods and gave less importance to the 'artistic attitude' of the story. Artistic attitude is the author's unique experience of the complexities of life, which leads to 'narrative cognition' so that the reader can enjoy the story by understanding it and experience new insights. In his book 'Al-Anwa' al-Nathriyyah fi al-Adab al-'Arabi al-Mu'asir (Ajyal wa Malamih)' (Prose Genres in Contemporary Arabic Literature), Sayyid Bahrawi, by introducing various works from writers of the Arab world, seeks to analyze the narrator's human experience—which is equivalent to the author's linguistic experience—by breaking free from the framework of pre-determined analyses. He calls this experience, which stems from the Arabic environment, the 'Nature of Form' (The content of the Form), seeking to provide an artistic insight into the experience of the Arab human by liberating itself from mental dependence on the West. Does his analytical method offer innovation in prose genres? Can it be used to understand stories? Has this book been successful in reaching this goal through its critical approach? Using an analytical-descriptive method and relying on quantitative and qualitative content analysis, it can be concluded that the issue of the book 'Prose Genres in Contemporary Literature' is not the analysis of the structure of story elements and narration, but rather the aesthetic understanding of the narration of the human experience of the Arab human, by providing the artistic insight inherent in the network of story elements, while explaining its characteristics and analytical method, and introducing examples of stories that possess a story structure content with an Arabic identity.
