چکیده:
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of a knowledge-based economy on the value added of Iran's agricultural sector during the years 1989-2014. To examine the long-term relationships between the value added of the agricultural sector and ICT index variables, R&D index, extension and training index, capital, and labor, the Johansen-Johansen cointegration method and the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) were used. The results obtained from estimating the long-term function of the model indicated a positive and significant impact of the ICT index, R&D index, capital variables, and labor on the value added of the agricultural sector. The impact of the agricultural extension and training index on the value added of the agricultural sector was positive but lacked statistical significance. Furthermore, the results from the error correction model showed that approximately 53 percent of the short-term deviations of the agricultural sector's value added from its long-term equilibrium value are adjusted within an adjustment period. Therefore, increasing research and development credits in the agricultural sector budget can be effective in the growth of this sector's value added.

Therefore, in order to investigate the effect of knowledge-based economy indicators on the value added of the agricultural sector, considering the studies conducted in this regard, the empirical models of Chaviola (6) and Shahabadi and Bashiri Monazzam (23) were used.

The results obtained from estimating the long-term function of the model showed that the ICT index, the research and development index, and the capital and labor variables have a positive and significant effect on the value added of the agricultural sector.
