چکیده:
Despite the major emphasis on increasing the reliability of financial statements, the quality of audit services provided by auditors has been inconsistent and is influenced by factors such as 'auditor type,' the rank of audit firms, and auditor tenure. The restatement of financial statements of companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange, which may result from audit errors, is very high compared to other countries. In the absence of sufficient empirical evidence, this research examines the role of new events in the country's audit market (such as ranking and mandatory changes of audit firms) on audit error. In other words, the purpose of this research is to test the role of auditor type (public auditor compared to private auditor), the rank of audit firms, and auditor tenure in the occurrence of audit error. In this regard, a sample consisting of 173 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange during the period 2010-2015 was selected, and the relevant hypotheses were tested using regression models. The results show that first-tier accredited audit firms have a significant relationship with audit error; also, reports from public auditors, compared to private auditors, are accompanied by more Type I errors and fewer Type II errors. Furthermore, the results show that auditor tenure does not have a significant relationship with audit error.
