Nowadays, security in cities, especially large cities, has become an important and complex issue. Given the fundamental role of the police as one of the very important pillars for establishing order and security in society and the role of public participation with the police to achieve this goal, identifying the contexts and factors for the formation and expansion of citizen participation with the police in society is of special importance. In this study, a community-based security approach based on police work with community participation has been emphasized. The main objective of this study is to examine the status of security, social status in society, citizens' attitudes toward the role of the police in maintaining and providing security in society, and the relationship of each of the above variables with the level of participation with the police in the studied statistical population. This study is of the social survey type, and the research data were collected using the questionnaire technique along with interviews. The reliability and validity of the research scales were confirmed with Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.872, 0.8775, and 0.75, respectively. The statistical population of the research is all citizens of Kashan city in the year 1389-90, where 700 people were determined as a sample using the Cochran sampling formula and were selected and examined through simple random sampling. In total, the research findings and the results of the relevant statistical activities using Pearson's correlation coefficient show a significant relationship between each of the independent variables and the level of participation with the police at a 99 percent confidence level. Also, the results of multiple regression analysis confirmed the effects of each of the above variables on the level of participation with the police by 38.025% and 26%, respectively.

Overall, from Zetomka's perspective, the high reputation and prestige of the police, which is earned based on its past performance, accurate information dissemination regarding police activities, providing a positive, active, and successful image of it in the media, the result of police performance which is the increase in security and social order, and also the appropriate and decent manner and behavior of the police, including verbal and non-verbal communication, formal clothing, physical health, and (improving physical characteristics) are factors effective on a positive attitude toward the police, increasing trust in the police, and enhancing the level of public participation with the police.
Conclusion The research findings and the results of the relevant statistical activities have confirmed the existence of a significant relationship and correlation between each of the variables of attitude toward the role of the police in maintaining and providing security, the social status of the police in society, citizens' trust in the police, and the level of participation with the police.
