چکیده:
Cancer, as one of the most important diseases of the century, is among the leading causes of death after cardiovascular diseases. The diagnosis of cancer and the subsequent endurance of long-term treatments are usually considered stressful experiences. Psychological treatments can be effective on the quality of life of these patients. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of narrative exposure therapy on improving the quality of life of women suffering from cancer-related post-traumatic stress disorder. The statistical population of this research consisted of all female cancer patients with post-traumatic stress disorder who were hospitalized in the Blood and Oncology Center of Motahhari hospitals in Fooladshahr between the period of June 22 to mid-September 2016. Among them, 30 people were selected using purposive sampling and after random replacement, they were studied in two groups: experimental and control (15 people in each group). The data collection tools were the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BRIEF) and the CCPI scale. The narrative exposure therapy process consisted of 6 sessions, each lasting 90 minutes, focusing on narrating unpleasant memories related to the illness, while the control group received no intervention. The results were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that narrative exposure therapy improved the overall quality of life score and its components, including physical health, mental health, social relationships, and environmental health, in women with cancer-related post-traumatic stress disorder. Consequently, narrative exposure therapy can be used as an effective method for improving the quality of life of this group of patients in oncology centers as complementary treatments alongside medical treatments.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of narrative exposure therapy on improving the quality of life of women suffering from cancer-related post-traumatic stress disorder.
The results showed that narrative exposure therapy in the total quality of life score and its components, including physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environmental health, led to an improvement in the quality of life of women with cancer-related post-traumatic stress disorder.
Adenaur, Catani, and Gola (2011), by examining narrative exposure therapy for symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder, showed that this treatment allows patients to re-evaluate the real danger in their current situation and consequently results in a reduction of psychological symptoms and an increase in their quality of life.
In Pherson's 3 research (2012), by examining the effect of narrative exposure therapy on post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and increasing the quality of life in victims of collective violence and torture, who were often subjected to multiple injuries for several years, it was concluded that the treatment in question caused a significant reduction in symptoms (PTSD) and an increase in their quality of life, and Akbari Nakhjavani and Gorgari (1394) in their studies concluded that the method of emotional disclosure in verbal and written forms has been effective on the quality of life of women with breast cancer.
Discussion and Conclusion The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of narrative exposure therapy on improving the quality of life of women suffering from cancer-related post-traumatic stress disorder.
