In today's world, the National Iranian Oil Company and its subsidiary, the National South Oil Producing Regions Company, have an urgent need to use information technology systems to carry out their administrative and commercial missions. Accordingly, to create these systems, facilitating and accelerating the improvement of planning, design, implementation, and control of information technology projects based on project goals, achieving project goals within the framework of optimal cost, time, and quality, is one of the most important priorities of organizations. In order to be able to extract the strengths and weaknesses of the organization's information technology project management, one must first be able to assess the maturity level of this process and then plan for upgrading to higher levels. For this purpose, standard methods and frameworks must be sought to correctly evaluate the management status of these types of projects. In this project, based on the COBIT 4.1 standard model framework, a 6-level maturity model provided by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is mentioned. Additionally, a method for determining IT efficiency goals and indicators (National South Oil Producing Regions Company) has been presented, which is proposed for preparing a plan to upgrade the maturity level of processes and determining the necessary roles for implementing these processes in the company and reaching the expected maturity level based on the aforementioned framework. Based on this method, the maturity assessment of information technology project management of the National South Oil Producing Regions Company has been carried out, and then, using the analysis of the current situation, suggestions for upgrading the maturity level of information technology project management are provided.
