چکیده:
In order to investigate the prediction of marital adjustment based on the role of subjective well-being and self-differentiation components, 120 couples (240 individuals) were randomly selected from incompatible couples visiting family courts or counseling centers and clinics in the city of Tabriz. They completed the self-differentiation scales, the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, and Spanier's Dyadic Adjustment Scale. The obtained data were analyzed using the stepwise regression analysis method. The analysis of the results showed that among the five components of subjective well-being, only the satisfaction component predicts marital adjustment. Additionally, among the four components of self-differentiation, only the emotional cutoff and 'I-position' components predict marital adjustment.

Various studies also indicate that marital adjustment affects many dimensions of individuals' personal and social lives, is the cornerstone of good family functioning, and facilitates the parental role (Mackey5 and OBrien6, 1998), prolongs the lifespan of husband and wife (Nakonezny7 and Rodgers8, 1995), leads to increased health (Demo9, 1996), economic development (Douglass10, 1995), and greater life satisfaction (Nock1, 1995).
Happy individuals solve the problems and issues that arise in their marital life with high morale and self-confidence, act successfully in this regard, and have a more positive attitude toward each other; instead of considering each other's weaknesses, they focus more of their minds on each other's strengths, abilities, and competencies, and therefore enjoy greater marital satisfaction and adjustment (Argyle6, 1990; as cited in Karimi, 1381).
The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between the components of subjective well-being and self-differentiation with marital adjustment, so that based on the results obtained, we can provide solutions for many problems faced by couples referring to family courts and counseling centers.
Table Number 2: Correlation matrix of the variables under study (Refer to the page image) As the contents of Table 2 show, there is a positive correlation between the components of mental happiness (satisfaction, positive mood, health, efficacy, and self-esteem) and marital adjustment at the level of 0.
