چکیده:
The aim of the present study is to explain the concept of Jahiliyyah (ignorance) in the modern era using the concepts of rationality and wisdom. In this regard, it first examines the concept of ignorance in literal and technical terms, and subsequently addresses the characteristics of primordial Jahiliyyah, the characteristics of modern Jahiliyyah, and the way to escape from it. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, reviewing Islamic texts through library research. Thus, the researcher has described and analyzed the subject by searching through books, theses, articles, and reliable websites related to the research topic. According to the researcher's findings, most behaviors during the period of Jahiliyyah before Islam were both contrary to reason and science and contrary to divine laws, whereas in modern Jahiliyyah, despite the use of science and knowledge, humans live in ignorance characterized by pride, arrogance, and ethnic and tribal prejudices. In this era, some, claiming to possess civilization and culture, have even surpassed the leaders of pre-Islamic Jahiliyyah in the race of ignorance and folly. The only way to escape modern Jahiliyyah and remain safe from such a terrible fitna (tribulation) that has gripped human society today is to turn towards the Imam of the Age, Ajjal Allahu Ta'ala Farraja Shariif. As long as today's humanity turns away from the Proof of God, its ignorance increases day by day.

It can be derived from Quranic verses that intellect, knowledge, and the piety arising from it are the primary factors in religiousness and a human's faith in the Sharia of Islam; for this reason, it is introduced as the internal messenger of God, and the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (AS), in explaining the status of the intellect, says: "Intellect is the messenger of the Truth—Exalted is He" (Al-Amidi, 1366, Hadith 272).
God sent the Prophet (peace be upon him, and his family) at a time when people were in confusion and wandering, caught in tribulations, overcome by desires, led into many slips by self-importance and arrogance, humiliated by the ignorance of Jahiliyyah, bewildered in the affairs of life, and afflicted by the calamity of ignorance and folly.
