The entanglement of terrorism with cyberspace has led to the formation of postmodern terrorism; in such a way that the terrorist group ISIS, as an emblem of inauthentic resistance identity, attempts to use the facilities of cyberspace to act towards dominating with its deviant views. The question of the present article is: what have been the most important goals of ISIS in turning to cyberspace, and from what perspective is cyberspace analyzable in connection with ISIS? In response to this question, the authors believe that ISIS, as a pre-modern group in the theoretical and ideological arena and a postmodern terrorism in cyberspace, uses communication tools and multimedia platforms functionally as a facilitating factor and catalyst to influence the audience, attract attention, recruit personnel, and create a network of terrorist cells toward forming what it calls the Islamic Caliphate. The research method in this article is analytical and descriptive, utilizing library resources. This article aims to examine how ISIS exploits the cyberspace platform and the goals and purposes of this terrorist group within the theoretical framework of the spiral of violence. In conclusion, it is concluded that given the declining ability of ISIS to attract personnel to the territories of Iraq and Syria, this group attempts to use its media strategies to spread fear in other regions instead of recruiting for territorial expansion around itself.

The authors' answer to this question is that ISIS, in the theoretical and ideological arena, as a pseudo-resistance identity that holds pre-modern beliefs but operates in a modern operational field, is considered a prominent example of postmodern terrorism in cyberspace; in such a way that, from a functional perspective, it uses cyberspace tools, especially communication tools and multimedia platforms, as a facilitating factor and catalyst for influencing the audience, attracting attention, recruiting personnel, and creating a network of terrorist cells toward the formation of what it calls the Islamic Caliphate.
Conclusion Relying on the spiral of violence theory, it has been explained that ISIS, by recognizing the importance of cyberspace and modern communication tools, has taken steps to use multimedia platforms and virtual social networks in order to influence audiences and achieve its goals.
