From the past to the present, various definitions of poetry have existed. In the past, the criterion for recognizing poetry was primarily external rhythm; however, today, with the use of new sciences such as linguistics, different definitions of poetry have been presented compared to the past. These new definitions of poetry have caused some prose texts to be categorized as poetry, giving rise to a new literary genre called prose poetry, examples of which can be found in some classical Persian prose, including parts of mystical texts. In this research, an attempt has been made to examine examples of prose poetry in classical Persian prose, taking into account the new definitions and characteristics of poetry.

Apart from Dr. Shafiei Kadkani's research on prose poetry, in this field, Mr. Seyyed Mohsen Hosseini Moakhar has also written an article that is mostly dedicated to comparing prose poetry and poetic prose, which can be a guide for researchers and scholars in recognizing the distinctions between these two literary genres.
2-2-2-Metaphor Among the imaginary forms, metaphor is one of the most important literary techniques for linguistic defamiliarization, and in mystical prose poetry, especially in ecstatic utterances (shath), it is used extensively due to the intervention of the unconscious mind in the writing and expression of abstract concepts.
These same new definitions caused some classical prose to be placed in the category of poetry, and new literary genres such as prose poetry and poetic prose entered the world of literature.
