چکیده:
The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between leisure time and mental health in secondary school students. In this research, which was conducted using descriptive and comparative methods, an attempt is made to identify and index the determining factors of leisure activities by emphasizing theoretical perspectives, especially developmental theories, social identity, interaction, critical institutionalism, and humanism, and then to examine and analyze their impact on student health. To this end, a leisure and health questionnaire was used, whose reliability was established through re-testing, and whose validity was obtained by consulting university professors and experienced teachers, as well as through the internal consistency method with a significant reliability coefficient. The statistical sample of this research consisted of 100 boys from secondary schools who were selected by simple random sampling; the relevant scales were provided to them, and then the information obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and correlation coefficients. Based on the obtained averages related to the eightfold activities, secondary school students spend their leisure time in the following order: watching television, reading books, reading magazines and newspapers, sports activities, going to recreational and pilgrimage sites, listening to the radio, artistic activities, and religious activities. Therefore, according to the research results, secondary school students spend most of their leisure time watching television and the least amount of leisure time on religious activities.
