چکیده:
Due to its special geopolitical, economic, civilizational, and strategic position, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been exposed to various threats from great powers. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the borders of threats against Iran from Russia receded beyond the Caucasus Mountains, which is considered a strategic and security desirability for Iran. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the opening of new borders and the independence of Central Asian countries not only reduced military threats but also created new opportunities (and sometimes threats) for Iran. The question raised here is how Iran's security approach in this region is, given the conditions of these republics and their political, social, and security problems. The premise of the article is that Central Asian republics can achieve their goals under conditions of stability and security, and consequently, the national goals and interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran can also be better secured in such conditions. One of Iran's security priorities in the Central Asian region is that the influence of regional and supra-regional powers in this area should not only not increase, but also decrease; in this regard, Iran has attempted to tie its interests to the region by establishing economic and cultural relations (which secure bilateral and multilateral common interests).
خلاصه ماشینی:
Until before September 11, 2001, the group of Central Asian countries, in terms of internal developments and strategic and security orientations, were not so much noticed by global powers, and most attention to this region was due to oil and gas reserves, which was considered the root of the existing competitions in the region; but after September 11, 2001, new conditions emerged in Central Asia, and this region came under intense attention as a logistical and supply obstacle for the military forces of the United States in Afghanistan, and geopolitical competitions were added to oil competitions.
The combination of geopolitical, oil, and economic competitions created special conditions in this region, and the presence of United States military forces and the establishment of military bases in territories that are considered Russia's backyard, provided the causes for new political and security transformations that brought with them a new wave of threats against the national security of Iran.
