چکیده:
Nowadays, according to World Health Organization statistics, more than one million two hundred thousand people lose their lives in traffic accidents in 2013, and it is predicted that by 2030, traffic accidents will rank as the fifth cause of death. In Iran also, based on the latest statistics from the Forensic Medicine Organization at the end of the year 1392, approximately 17,000 people lost their lives in traffic accidents. The main goal of this research is to examine the key characteristics of the new law for handling driving violations (passed in 1389) in managing driving violations in order to reduce road accidents and ultimately reduce the resulting mortality. It is evident that this research, in terms of its goal and nature, is applied; in terms of data collection methods, it is descriptive and evaluative; and in terms of time, it is a cross-sectional study conducted using content analysis with the Delphi method to evaluate the effect of traffic laws and regulations in preventing traffic accidents and also to determine legal gaps. The statistical population of this research consists of all accidents and deaths resulting from them in the years 1377 to 1392, which were analyzed as a sample using a total census method. The results of this research show that after the implementation of the new law, while controlling the rate of increase in road fatalities compared to the absolute number in the years before the law's implementation, based on two global indicators, there has been a significant decrease per ten thousand vehicles and also per 100,000 people.
